Film Fun

The votes are in. I asked you "Which dead film star is your library?"

Nobody works anywhere like Lassie, John Wayne or J. Carroll Naish. One lucky soul works in a library with the winsome charm of Mary Pickford and another in a bumbling, ineffectual Edward Everett Horton.

Jealous though I am of the 12% of respondents working in a Douglas Fairbanks Senior of a library I have no words for the envy I have for the person working for William Powell.

The Three Stooges In the end, though, reality prevailed. 68% of respondents said that their library reminded them of any one of The Three Stooges. Thank you for confirming my world view.

Thanks to everyone who voted. Next time we'll be addressing the fabric of the library building; look out for the poll appearing soon after Mischief Night.

I've concluded I'm working where "Mrs Miniver", The "Magnificent Amerbsons" and "The Stepford Wives" overlap. Having said that there are some elements of "Duck Soup" from time to time as well.

Pip! Pip!

Cow has a secret crush on Dick Powell.

Not William Powell of the swoop of dark hair, the elegant aquiline nose, the patrician suits.

Nope. Dick Powell, from Arkansas, band leader, charmer, all around good-guy till he turned to film noir in the 1950's.

Ah for the true film stars of yesteryear. And thank you Turner Classic Movies for making these oldies available commercial-free.

Cow doesn't think there's any Dick Powell Libraries though. Unless there are libraries with spats and spotted ties.

Moo!

It's the eyebrows. (-:

A friend of mine ranks Dick Powell, albeit a bit behind Cary Grant. Imagine the fun I had when I found that out after years of her poking fun at my crushes on Fay Wray, Louise Brooks and Katherine Hepburn.
