Just me holding the fort downstairs this morning. Them as aren't involved in an event at Umpty Library or aren't providing cover support for A Very Busy Library That Will Go Nameless are all at a pre-retirement seminar in the Town Hall.
Is a "pre-retirement seminar" a seminar about "pre-retirement"? Discussing how to cope with those difficult last five years of ones working life. There can never be too many seminars in my opinion!
Soon after I married MTL we had a pre-retiremnt seminar staying in a swish hotel in London - five days of slightly boring daytime lectures and free to make whoopee catching a different theatre every night. I remember it fondly.

You are the Beau Geste of the library world, determined to do the right thing. Watch for dust clouds on the horizon.
Was thinking Kevin should also have been at the pre-retire gig.
Or does the crystal ball not show that far in the future?
(Cow helping herself to fish fingers and beans, thank you very much!)

Mme DF: it's a dummy run for when Tunnel Ernie breaks through into the sports field.
Ms. Cow: Me too young. )-:
(On a couple of slices of buttered Wonderloaf?)
Gadjo: it turned out to be a sneaky way of saying: "if you don't retire before Easter we'll be cutting your pension."
Pat: not as swish as the scout hut behind the Town Hall, I'll be bound!
