Staff room conversation:

"I've not seen you for a bit, Maudie. How was your holiday?"

"Very nice. We went to London for a few days."

"Oh, very good. Stay at the Dorchester did you?"

"No... Mind you, I did once went to the Dorchester. To use the loo."

"Did you have to wear your white gloves?"

"Oh no, they've got paper these days."

And I imagine in the old days they had pages ripped out from The Lady and Country Living on a hook in the toilets for customers' use.
