I was only thinking about Jonathan Livingstone Seagull the other day watching them from the balcony - and remembering all the hoo ha when it came out.
Different times.

Pat: that book's come up in conversation at work quite a few times in the past week. I suspect it must be time for a revival.

This, from a young Library Page (I have no idea what her alleged function is):

"Wow, just when I thought our patrons couldn't get any more stupid, we had one person ask when Harriet Tubman would be showing up for the special presentation going on in one of our meeting rooms. I guess I can kinda understand the confusion, since it was called "Visit with Harriet Tubman", but come on, people! I'm not the brightest person in the world (and I seriously suck at History), but even I know the lady isn't alive today. (In case you're curious, she was born in 1822 and died on March 10, 1913.)"

I propose reincarnation for Miss Tubman, but I would leave JLS where he is--dead.
