Overheard in the Cistine Chapel as the artist pauses for inspiration

Some author visits are better in the anticipation than the participation. Today's guest put Maybelle off quite a bit when he took her to one side and said:

"Some of these people look like they've got mental health issues. I'm not sure they should be here."

Surely a library is precisely the right place for people with mental health issues - it's quiet, non-threatening, they can sit by the radiator to save on the gas bills at home, and they can play hide and seek with the goblins who live in the bookselves.

Dream on, that libraries are quiet.

At least here, libraries are usually filled with the shouts and ramblings of the mentally deranged homeless who have taken all the seats...
