Turner Prize disappointment: Helminthdale Council's epic art installation "Helminthdale Town Centre Regeneration" is passed over for Susan Philipsz' "Lowlands."
"We don't mind postmodernist irony," says a judge, "but Helminthdale's effort smacks more of sarcasm."

I wonder if the council could have staged a conceptual 'artwork' entitled "Not Making Any Staff Cutbacks" which simply featured people going about their normal jobs in a library. It's so witty and off-the-wall that it could've won, and the prize money could have been used to make the prophesy come true. Now, that's a concept worthy of the word 'art'.
Great informative article. Thank you for sharing. Keep up the great job with this blog.

Well he hasn't said it about mine. Is it sexist?
Gadjo: it's people like you that have caused Arts Council England to move to add public libraries to its empire. We may bear a grudge.
nike: how lovely. thank you.
Bob: you know how it is, they get a bit of fizz down them when they're out with their mates, the Tizer takes over their system and they get giddy all over.
Pat: be careful what you wish for!
Gadjo's idea is brilliant. And using any form of humour was obviously a mistake - don't you know there is nothing funny about art (especially the sub-branch known as the Turner Prize)?
Maybe the Turner Judges weren't ready for the howl of pure anguish coming from Helminthdale.
Another great informative article though Kev.
